- Implementation of the ČSN EN ISO 50001:2012 standard - energy management systems (supersedes ČSN EN 16001:2010), based on Deming cycle (PDCA Cycle), which means the method of gradual improvement of, for example, quality of products, services, processes, applications and data performed in the form of repetitive application of the four basic activities:
- P /Plan/ - planning the assumed improvement (intention),
- D /Do/ - implementation of the plan,
- C /Check/ - verification of the result of implementation against the original intention,
- A /Act/ - modifications of the plan as well as the implementation thereof as such based on verification and putting the implementation in general practice.
The purpose of the ČSN EN ISO 50001:2012 standard is long-term, permanent reduction of energy demands by means of creating the necessary systems and processes; the standard applies to all types and sizes of organizations having energy management - manufacturing companies as well as services providers, e.g. school, sports, medical or accommodation facilities or companies dealing in facility management, etc. Audit of the energy management system outlines the potential of energy utilization and defines the areas subject to risks. The implementation may be completed by certification of the energy management system by an accredited company, the benefits of which are in particular as follows:
- reduction of operating costs,
- reduction of environmental impacts,
- image of a socially responsible organization, which refers to, among others, a competitive advantage.
- Implementation of a set of the ČSN EN 16247 standards (under preparation) Energy audits, the parts:
- General requirements; defines the attributes of good quality concerning execution of energy audits. Defines requirements imposed on energy audits and the corresponding duties within the framework of the energy audit process. This standard is applicable to business organizations, industrial organizations, owners or associations of residential premises and organizations operating in the public sector with the exception of private family houses.
- Buildings; relates to specific requirements imposed on energy audit in buildings. The standard defines requirements, methodology and results of energy audits of a building or a group of buildings, with the exception of private apartments.
- Processes; specifies requirements, methodology and results arising from energy audit performed in industrial premises. This part of EN 16247 applies to situations where energy consumption is related directly to the process due to the relating services and the necessary operating conditions. In the industrial sector, energy audit is an important instrument facilitating energy management of the organization and may be a part of the entire energy management system. The industrial premises under audit may contain one or two production lines, offices, laboratories, research centres, packing and storage areas, etc. with diverse operating conditions for which the respective activities are performed. The energy audit then may include the entire industrial premises or a part thereof.
- Transportation; procedures described herein apply to various types of transportation (road, railway, sea and air one) as well as to various scopes (local or long-distance) and to commodities transported in different manners (in general, various cargoes or passengers are concerned). It applies to every situation where transportation / forwarding is performed, regardless of who is the operator (either a public or a private undertaking, or whether the subject is intended for transportation exclusively or not). The audit process provides for advice concerning energy optimization in each type of transport as well as selection of the best mode of transport under every situation. It is possible that conclusions resulting from the energy audit will have an impact on the follow-up change of the infrastructure.
- Analyses of special requirements imposed on energy management based on requirements of the contracting entity, in particular from the point of view of energy supplies:
- evaluation of threats and assessment of the supplies safety,
- based on calculations arising from the theory of probabilities, we will answer questions of the following types:
- what is the probability that the system will run smoothly in the period under review?
- how many and how long failures will occur in the system per year?
- how the reliability will change when the system is backed up with a redundant one?
- etc.,
- implementation of procedures focused on mitigation of risks,
- the relating training focused on safety awareness improvement.
- Opinions of the Consulting and Information Centre (poradenské a informační středisko in Czech, PIS) pursuant to Order of the Government of the Czech Republic No. 299/2001 Coll. as amended,
- Energy passports for individual premises or technological units depending on importance thereof from the point of view of total consumption of energy, etc.,
- Keeping records of the energy management parameters, be specific on the part of consumption, and on the part of energy purchase (electric power, natural gas, purchased heat, water, compressed air and other media or fuels),
- Feasibility studies serving for the purpose of assessment of the project feasibility from the point of view of finance but also for the purpose of assessment of effectiveness of utilization of potentially invested funds which means verification of the project viability. In addition, it is an essential part of the project management. The scope and form of the feasibility study differs depending on the purpose of application thereof, however, regardless of the type of the project under assessment, every feasibility study adheres to the following basic structure:
- technical analysis of the project / investment;
- market analysis of the project / investment;
- financial and economic analysis of the project / investment.
- Preparation, evaluation or review of business plans in the energy sector, which are basic plans of business activity, goal-directed in particular on the main, crucial sphere of business activity, or as a main argument to convince a potential investor. From practical point of view, a business plan can be seen as a long-term strategy for business activity adopted by the entrepreneur. The content of the business plan / prospectus is not defined in a binding manner. Different investors or banks have different requirements for the structure and scope thereof. On the other hand, the business plan should provide for answers to minimum the following questions:
- what is the current position of the company?
- where would the company like to get in a year or two?
- how does the company want and is able to achieve the foregoing?
- Defining potential energy savings and measures resulting in savings - preparation of a plan of savings, balance calculations,
- Evaluation of implemented measures and comparison of the assumed savings with actually achieved savings,
- Economic evaluation of investment projects focusing on energy savings based on the customer's requirements, e.g. based on the cost approaches (profit or revenue based ones), such as:
- annual-cost-averaging method,
- discounted-cost method,
- rate-of-return-averaging method,
- real-pay-back-period method /Tsd/,
- net-present-value method /NPV/,
- internal-rate-of-return method /IRR/,
- and many others, or cost-benefit analysis /CBA/ referring to the method of measuring all costs, which means all-company ones as well on the one hand, and all benefits (not only financial revenues) on the other hand. It analyses all positive as well as negative effects arising from the project. This method can be used for e.g. assessment of projects subsidized from public resources (public infrastructure, subsidized projects in general). Any investor or potential operator of the project may evaluate all imaginable benefits, gains, positives, but also costs, impacts, disadvantages and negatives of the respective project;
- within the framework of individual methods, we perform what-if analyses depending on input quantities, etc.
- Detection and quantification of unauthorized (the so-called black) withdrawals pursuant to the Energy Act No. 458/2000 Coll. as amended and the implementing Decrees Nos. 51/2006 Coll. and 82/2011 Coll.,
- Various studies, policies, specialist, surveying or expert opinions, methodologies...,
